“Why can’t I move on?”

You judge yourself when you make a mistake. You try to do your work perfectly or get the highest grade. You hate parts of yourself and wish you were different. Your relationship with yourself isn’t great. Maybe you notice big emotional reactions in yourself and you feel like you can’t control yourself.

You’re carrying around the hurt, anger, and fear that came out of your childhood and relationships. You wish you could let go of the past and just “move on.” You know you’ve had hard, scary, or traumatic experiences and it might feel overwhelming to even think about them.

You may have grown up in a religious environment that has left you feeling shame, fear, and self-doubt. You wonder how to trust yourself and find a sense of freedom. You used to feel certain in your beliefs, but now you question everything. You’re angry, hurt, and grieving.

You want to heal from what happened and enjoy your life.

You wish you could accept yourself, feel less anxious, sleep better, and have more security in your relationships. You wish you felt more confident and comfortable with who you are. You want to let go of regret, stop judging yourself, and move forward with your life. You want to heal the parts of you that were traumatized and had to survive.

You deserve to heal.

You deserve to have a space to fall apart, let go, and feel safe. I’ve had to do my own healing from past experiences. I feel you. It can be terrifying to start the process, AND it’s a brave thing to do. In therapy, there’s no rush. We can take our time finding your strengths, connecting with your inner child, processing your experiences, and reshaping beliefs. I want to help you find self-acceptance, relief from stress, fear, and shame, and confidence in what you believe.

How can art therapy help heal trauma?
